Instrument Development Engineer

Your mission

• Mechanical and optomechanical design of scientific instruments: optical bench layouts, kinematic mounts, sample positioning mechanisms, structural enclosures
• Thermal analysis and design of temperature control systems, including thermoelectric (Peltier) regulation for sample environments requiring sub degree stability
• Electronics architecture definition: power distribution, signal routing, connector and cabling layouts for instruments combining lasers, detectors, and embedded computing
• Resource budgets (mass, power, thermal dissipation) and technical content for system-level documentation and specifications
• Prototyping, testing, and design iteration of hardware in close collaboration with the optics and software teams

LS Instruments AG, a spin-off from the University of Freiburg, is a technological leader in the field of optical characterization of nanoparticles. In July 2026, LS Instruments became part of Postnova Analytics GmbH, marking the beginning of a new chapter for our company. We recently received a contract to develop a modular light-scattering instrument for the aerospace industry. In this context, we are enlarging our team and are looking for reinforcement.
