Objectifs du poste
Most scientists inherit an evidence base. Here, you will build one. As Fundamental Experience Science Manager, you will own the scientific foundations on which the Experience Lab - and the wider Proposition Science function - will stand: deciding which questions matter, establishing what the evidence really says, defining what still needs to be measured, and determining how to measure it.
You will turn scattered literature, expert knowledge, exploratory research and internal learning into explicit conclusions, testable hypotheses, validated measurement approaches and reusable standards. Where evidence is weak, conflicting or not applicable to our context, you will say so - and define the study that closes the gap. You will work across the scientific disciplines relevant to each question rather than promoting a fixed discipline by default, and your work becomes the base that every future project builds on.
You will do this as an expert individual contributor in a small, newly formed team, working through influence and executing much of the research with the external experts, research partners and academic collaborators you brief, steer and quality-control.
Domaine de responsabilités
Scientific question framing and prioritisation. Working with the Experience Science Director, Applied Experience Science colleagues and cross-functional partners, define and prioritise the scientific questions most critical to product, brand, innovation, marketing and consumer journey development.
Evidence synthesis and scientific judgement. Review and integrate scientific literature, expert knowledge, internal learning and external evidence to establish what is known, what remains uncertain and what applies to our context.
Study design and measurement development. Design, commission and oversee studies - largely executed with external experts, research partners and academic collaborators - and build measurement protocols that specify constructs, instruments, study conditions, quality thresholds and interpretation rules, making use of novel methods where they genuinely strengthen scientific efficiency, evidence and understanding.
Reusable scientific assets. Build and maintain evidence maps, conceptual models, validated measures, study standards and decision criteria that compound across projects, teams and markets.
Scientific guidance and the future agenda. Guide applied experience science projects on mechanism selection, measurement and interpretation, and convert recurring questions and evidence gaps into a prioritised Experience Science research agenda.
Qualifications
Storytelling : Robust commercial understanding and translation of business questions into actionable business recommendations and implications are necessary
Expérience professionnelle
7+ years of experience in scientific research, applied research, evidence synthesis, measurement development or experimental design related to human behaviour or experience.
A track record of converting scientific literature and expert input into clear conclusions, hypotheses, study designs and practical implications.
Experience designing, commissioning, managing or interpreting studies - including rejecting or redesigning weak measures or study approaches when required.
Experience managing external experts or research partners, and communicating scientific judgement to R&D, innovation, insights, marketing or commercial stakeholders, ideally in a regulated environment.
Diplômes et formations
A BSc in a relevant field such as psychology, behavioural science, cognitive science, neuroscience, sensory or perceptual science, human factors, consumer science or decision science - or another STEM discipline with significant relevant research experience. An advanced degree involving empirical research, literature synthesis, measurement development or evidence evaluation is preferred.
Compétences linguistiques et informatiques – lesquelles & niveau
Excellent English language skills
Compétences comportementales
You are a scientific systems builder - intellectually rigorous, but never academic for its own sake. You have built or strengthened an evidence base, not only contributed individual studies to one. You hold strong convictions, weakly held: you can form a clear position from evidence and change it when better evidence or reasoning emerges. You are comfortable across disciplines, credible with experts, and able to organise knowledge into models, measures and standards that non-specialists can use. You make uncertainty explicit without making the recommendation useless.
Above all, you combine scientific depth with pragmatism and follow-through. This is not science for its own sake: from the first framing of a research question, you keep an eye on its potential application and the outcomes it could improve.
